A group of terrorists of 12 people, including two women, landed on the coast near tel Aviv and seized a passenger bus. The group was led by Dalal Mughrabi.
Following the highway, the terrorists fired at military vehicles. Finally, the forces the car was stopped. In the ensuing firefight, the terrorists started to kill passengers, and then blew it up. Killing from 35 to 38 civilians, and another 71 were wounded. Shortly after this attack began the first operation of the Israeli army in the border area between the Lebanese-Israeli border and the Litani river.
